Tragic Day in Uttar Pradesh: 54 Lives Lost to Lightning, Drowning, and Snake Bites
In just one day, Uttar Pradesh witnessed the deaths of 54 individuals due to lightning, drowning, and snake bites. The state’s relief commissioner's office reported that the majority of these fatalities were caused by lightning strikes, with Pratapgarh district being the worst affected.

In an alarming statistic, fifty-four individuals lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh within a 24-hour period, attributed to lightning strikes, drowning, and snake bites, the state's relief commissioner's office confirmed on Friday.
The tragic incidents occurred between 7 pm on Wednesday and 7 pm on Thursday, with lightning strikes causing the majority of deaths. Pratapgarh district reported the highest toll, with 12 fatalities due to lightning on Wednesday alone.
Sultanpur and Chandauli districts each reported seven and six lightning-related deaths, respectively. Four people in Prayagraj and Fatehpur and two in Hamirpur also succumbed to lightning strikes. Additionally, nine individuals drowned, and two others died from snake bites during the same period.
