Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Friday announced that the ongoing repair work on Munak Canal is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by night.
The breach in one of the canal's sub-branches, which occurred late Wednesday night, caused significant waterlogging in Bawana and affected water supply in various parts of Delhi. The restoration work aims to stabilize the situation soon.
Upon completion, water from Haryana will be released, taking about 5–6 hours to reach the Dwarka water treatment plant, which is expected to resume operations by Saturday morning, Atishi said. DJB officials have been actively monitoring the repairs, coordinating with the Haryana government to expedite the process. Local resident Gopal Kumar confirmed pumping out water from the flooded areas.
