AAP leader and Delhi Cabinet minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Friday launched a tree plantation drive in his Greater Kailash Assembly segment to combat the extreme heat experienced in the national capital.

The 30-day initiative, named '52 Degrees Celsius Never Again,' commenced at Jahanpanah City Forest in South Delhi with participation from school students, locals, and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), according to a statement.

On the first day, 250 saplings were planted at Jahanpanah City Forest. Bharadwaj highlighted the 52-degree Celsius peak temperature recorded this year in Delhi and attributed the extreme weather conditions to climate change. Through this campaign, the aim is to make the city greener, cleaner, and healthier. He also urged residents to join the plantation drive. The event saw attendance from officials of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, and Delhi Traffic Police.
