Traffic in Delhi experienced significant disruptions as several Tazia processions marked Imam Hussain's martyrdom anniversary on Muharram. Hundreds of mourners participated across various districts including Shahdara, east, northeast, and northwest districts, according to the police.
The processions led to traffic jams at several locations, causing major inconvenience to commuters. The Delhi Traffic Police issued warnings on social media about congestion on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road from Hamdard T point to Khanpur T point on both carriageways due to the processions.
Traffic bottlenecks were also reported on Parliament Street, Rohtak Road, NH-48, and more, as multiple roads were closed. Additional affected areas included Mathura Road, Mad Anandmai Marg, Pankha Road, and Najafgarh Road. To alleviate the chaos, the police regulated traffic from 12 pm to 9:30 pm on key routes including Jama Masjid Road, Panchkuian Road, and Connaught Place's Outer Circle.
