Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar issued a stark warning on Friday, stating that climate change is a ticking time bomb threatening humanity. Addressing the valedictory session of the 4th International Climate Summit organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhankhar urged collective global efforts to tackle this existential crisis.
Highlighting India's proactive stance, he noted the nation's goal to achieve 50 percent of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy sources by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2070. However, he emphasized that the climate crisis cannot be resolved by any single nation alone.
Dhankhar also pointed out the disproportionate impact of climate change on marginalized communities and called for 'climate justice' to be a guiding principle. He urged for more than just discussions, encouraging action and broader narratives on social platforms to drive substantive change.
