NDMC's Preparations for WHC Meet: CCTV Installations and Waterlogging Measures

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is gearing up for the upcoming World Heritage Committee (WHC) meet from July 21 to 31. Measures include installing CCTV cameras at 20 new locations and procuring 75 portable pumps to address potential waterlogging issues. A special dinner for delegates will be hosted on July 26.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has ramped up its efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming World Heritage Committee (WHC) meeting, set to run from July 21 to 31 in the capital city. Key measures include the installation of CCTV cameras at 20 crucial locations and the acquisition of 75 portable pumps to manage waterlogging due to heavy rainfall.

NDMC Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay revealed that six control rooms have been established to monitor the situation, supported by 175 ground personnel. The central Command and Control Room will also oversee proceedings. This comes in response to the record 228 mm of rainfall on June 28, which caused significant waterlogging in areas like Bharti Nagar and Golf Links.

In preparation, CCTV cameras have been strategically placed in locations such as Satya Sadan, Lodhi Estate, and Raisina Road. Additionally, a beautification drive has been conducted at Khan Market, Connaught Place, and Janpath. The NDMC will also host a special dinner for WHC delegates on July 26 at the Qutub Institutional area. The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam, the same venue as the recent G20 Summit.
