Tragic Rainfall Causes Multiple Deaths in Uttar Pradesh

Eleven people died in weather-related incidents across Uttar Pradesh over a 24-hour period. The fatalities resulted from drowning, lightning strikes, and a snake bite. Several districts experienced heavy rainfall, prompting the relief department to put local administrations on high alert for potential danger due to rising river levels.

Eleven people were killed in rain-related incidents across Uttar Pradesh in a 24-hour period ending Saturday evening, according to relief department officials.

From 6:30 pm on Friday to 6:30 pm on Saturday, five persons drowned while five others were killed after being hit by lightning. One person in Ghazipur district succumbed to a snake bite.

Uttar Pradesh recorded an average of 7.3 mm rainfall during this period. Among the 75 districts, 19 recorded excess rainfall, with Hamirpur experiencing the highest at 163.2 mm.

The relief department has alerted local administrations in Gorakhpur, Siddharth Nagar, and Gonda, where rivers are near danger levels. State relief commissioner GS Naveen Kumar stated that coordination with local administrations is ongoing to minimize damage from adverse weather conditions, with all units on standby.
