Centre Allocates Rs 26,000 Crore for Bihar's Development

The Centre announced a Rs 26,000 crore investment for road projects in Bihar, part of a broader development plan that includes airports, medical colleges, and sports infrastructure. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlined financial aid for Bihar and other eastern states, emphasizing industrial corridors and support for 1 lakh students annually.

The Centre on Tuesday proposed a significant outlay of Rs 26,000 crore for various road projects in Bihar.

In her Budget for 2024-25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the Union government would arrange financial assistance to Bihar through international aid.

The government also plans to establish airports, medical colleges, and sports infrastructure in Bihar, according to Sitharaman.

Additionally, the Centre will implement the 'Purvodaya' plan for the comprehensive development of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

Sitharaman also highlighted support for an industrial corridor aimed at bolstering economic growth in the eastern region.

Moreover, the government will provide e-vouchers directly to 1 lakh students annually, with a 3 per cent interest subvention on loans.
