A detailed investigation into the tragic death of a 26-year-old civil services aspirant, Nilesh Rai, has uncovered significant safety lapses. Rai died after being electrocuted in Patel Nagar when he accidentally touched an iron gate connected to an exposed wire from a water pump.
The report by the Patel Nagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) found that the iron gate was in contact with a wire with damaged insulation. This faulty wiring, coupled with heavy rains on the incident day, led to Rai's death.
The SDM's probe emphasized the need for police verification of all PG accommodations and stringent safety measures by the MCD to prevent such tragedies in the future.
