Delhi Cracks Down on Illegal Coaching Centres in Old Rajinder Nagar

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has sealed 13 coaching centres in Old Rajinder Nagar following a tragic incident where three IAS aspirants lost their lives due to flooding in a basement library. The crackdown came in response to illegal operations and non-compliance with safety regulations.

According to a Delhi government statement issued late on Sunday, an MCD team launched an initiative to address the issue of coaching centres operating from basements against established rules. The centres sealed included notable names such as IAS Gurukul, Chahal Academy, and Rau's IAS Study Circle, among others.

The MCD had previously conducted a survey of coaching centres after a fire incident in Mukharjee Nagar. The eventual sealing of these centres is part of an ongoing effort to identify and penalize those flouting norms. Mayor Shelly Oberoi plans to announce a high-level committee following discussions with the Delhi government to ensure stringent safety measures moving forward.
