Tragic Collision in Bihar: Five Dead in Autorickshaw-Truck Crash

Five people lost their lives and five others were seriously injured when an autorickshaw collided with a truck in Bihar's Vaishali district. The victims were en route to a shrine. The injured were sent to Patna Medical College. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced compensation for the next of kin.

Five people were killed and five others seriously injured in a tragic collision between an autorickshaw and a truck in Vaishali district of Bihar on Monday, according to police officials.

The victims were all travelling in the autorickshaw. Vaishali police station SHO Pravin Kumar reported that two individuals died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries at a hospital. All the deceased, except the autorickshaw driver, were women.

The passengers, including the driver, were residents of Motipur in the neighboring Muzaffarpur district. They were heading to the ‘Budhiya Maiya’ shrine near Hajipur, the district headquarters of Vaishali. The injured were referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital, while police are searching for the truck driver, who fled the scene. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his condolences and announced an ex-gratia of Rs four lakh for the families of each victim.
