The incident occurred when water from a flooded drain surged into the basement library of Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar. Following this, Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj requested a detailed report on third-party audits for drain desilting.

The Urban Development Department has instructed all departments to comply with the high court order requiring third-party audits. Payments will only be released once the work is verified through these audits.
