Tragedy at Van Vihar: Tiger Cubs Succumb to Injuries Post-Rescue
Two tiger cubs, rescued after being struck by a train in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district, have died during treatment at Van Vihar National Park. Despite efforts by veterinary doctors, both cubs succumbed to their injuries. The cubs were cremated per the National Tiger Conservation Authority guidelines.

Two tiger cubs, rescued a fortnight ago after a train accident in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district, have succumbed to their injuries, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The cubs were receiving medical treatment at Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal.
One of the cubs, which had refused food since the rescue, died on Tuesday. The second cub, whose rear body was non-functional, passed away on Wednesday. Both cubs were transported to Bhopal via a special single-coach AC train run by West Central Railway on July 17.
Three cubs were initially found injured from the train accident occurring on the night of July 14-15 near Budhni, Sehore district. One died on the spot; the remaining two were brought to Van Vihar for treatment. The deceased cubs underwent post-mortem examinations, and their bodies were cremated according to National Tiger Conservation Authority protocols.
