Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding and Fatality in Kathmandu
A 45-year-old man died, and numerous areas in Kathmandu were inundated due to heavy rainfall. Seventy people, including women and children, were rescued. The Bishnumati and Bagmati rivers overflowed, affecting residential areas and markets. Around 700 cattle and chickens were also rescued.
A 45-year-old man lost his life in Kathmandu as heavy rains inundated parts of the Nepalese capital since Tuesday night. Flooding from the Bishnumati and Bagmati rivers disrupted areas, including the Balkhu Fruits and Vegetable Market, according to police reports.
Authorities said the man's body was discovered floating under a bridge near the Balkhu Vegetable Market on Wednesday. Rescue operations saved seventy people, including women and children, along with around 700 cattle and chickens trapped by the floodwaters.
Floodwaters also affected the outskirts of Kathmandu, flooding regions such as Balkhu, Bafal, UN Park, Dhobikhola corridor, and Sundarighat.
