BMC Comes to Kolhapur's Aid Amid Heavy Flooding

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is aiding Kolhapur, impacted by severe rainfall and flooding, by cleaning storm water drains. A team equipped with suction-cum-jetting machines has been dispatched to assist. This isn't the first time BMC has helped Kolhapur; similar support was provided in 2019 and 2021.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stepped in to assist Kolhapur, which has been grappling with heavy rainfall and ensuing floods. The BMC is focusing on cleaning the storm water drains to mitigate flooding impacts.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, a team of BMC civic officials, equipped with two suction-cum-jetting machines, has been sent to Kolhapur, located approximately 375 kilometers from Mumbai. Additional support, including vehicle drivers, technicians, and laborers, was also dispatched upon the request of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation commissioner Rahul Rokade.

Led by Junior Engineer Akash Rainak, the team arrived in Kolhapur on July 31 and commenced work in the Shahupuri area. This marks yet another instance of BMC's support; the Mumbai civic body extended similar assistance during the Kolhapur flooding incidents of 2019 and 2021.
