Heavy rains graced various parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, delivering much-needed relief from high humidity levels.
The significant downpour resulted in a drop in minimum temperatures in both states by two to four degrees below the normal range, according to the local meteorological department.
Notable areas that received substantial rainfall included Moga, Tarn Taran, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Faridkot, and Ambala, leading to waterlogging in many regions.
Pathankot received a remarkable 157.2 mm of rain, while Amritsar registered 90.2 mm, Patiala 31.6 mm, and Gurdaspur 40.7 mm in the span of the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 am, as per a report by the meteorological office.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded the highest rainfall at 140.8 mm, followed by Bhiwani with 69.7 mm, Narnaul at 57 mm, Hisar 40.6 mm, Rohtak 39.6 mm, Karnal 38.2 mm, and Sirsa 21 mm.
Chandigarh, serving as the shared capital of the two states, received 23.8 mm of rainfall during the same period.
