Young Man Feared Drowned as Heavy Rains Swell River

A 21-year-old man from Palghar district is feared drowned after being swept away by strong river currents, following heavy rainfall. With local officials urging the public to avoid hazardous areas, preventive orders have been issued to prevent similar incidents.

A 21-year-old man was swept away by a strong water current in a river in Palghar district, officials confirmed on Saturday. The man, feared drowned, had visited the spot with friends.

The incident occurred in the afternoon when two of the three friends entered the swollen river for a swim. Neeraj Chauhan was taken by the strong currents, while his friend managed to escape. The third friend, who waited on the riverbank, raised an alarm.

As of Saturday evening, Chauhan remained untraced. Local authorities have issued preventive orders and urged the public to stay away from rivers, seas, and other hazardous areas during heavy rainfall to prevent such tragedies.
