National Green Tribunal Taking Action Against Mindless Concretisation in Ghaziabad

The petition was filed by advocate Akash Vashishtha and highlights non-compliance with environmental norms and government guidelines. NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava noted that the plea raises substantial environmental concerns. The bench, including Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi and expert member A Senthil Vel, issued notices to relevant parties like the Ministry, CPCB, and UPPCB, scheduling further proceedings for October 21.

Senior Advocate Sanjay Upadhyay emphasized that the unchecked concretisation threatens urban environments, citing incidents in Delhi where basements flooded and lawyers' offices were inundated due to the paving of soft areas. The issue exposes larger risks, urging immediate intervention.
