Cabinet Approves 2 Crore More Houses Under PMAY-G

The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of two crore more houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) from FY 2024-25 to 2028-29. The project, with a total outlay of Rs 3.06 lakh crore, aims to provide housing for nearly 10 crore individuals in rural areas.

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has greenlit the construction of an additional two crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) initiative.

The project, to be implemented from FY 2024-25 through FY 2028-29, involves constructing two crore houses, with an existing unit assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh for plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh for North Eastern Region States and Hill States. The total project outlay is Rs 3.06 lakh crore, which includes a central share of Rs 2.05 lakh crore and state share of Rs 1 lakh crore.

Houses left incomplete in the earlier phase of PMAY-G by March 31 this year will also be completed in FY 2024-25. This initiative aims to benefit nearly 10 crore individuals, ensuring safe and secure housing with all basic amenities for houseless and people living in dilapidated homes.
