Massive Landslide Temporarily Halts Mandakini River Flow in Bhimbali

A massive landslide in Bhimbali temporarily stopped the flow of the Mandakini River, causing concern among local residents. Although the water flow has now been restored, officials have advised people living along the riverbanks to remain cautious. An alert has been issued from Gaurikund to Rudraprayag as a precautionary measure.

A massive landslide at Bhimbali halted the flow of the Mandakini River briefly on Sunday, local officials have reported.

Residents living near the riverbanks have been warned to stay away from the area. District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar disclosed that the landslide occurred along a hill beside the Mandakini River, near the Bhimbali helipad, which is located a few kilometers from Gaurikund. This event led to the formation of a temporary lake in the region.

The water flow has now been restored, and while there is no immediate danger, the District Disaster Management Centre has issued alerts to local residents as a precaution. Residents from Gaurikund to Rudraprayag have been advised to remain vigilant and avoid the riverbanks.
