Poacher Arrested in Similipal Tiger Reserve, Weapons Seized

Forest department personnel have apprehended Mangal Bansingh, a poacher, from Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. The arrest followed a tip-off and a patrol by the Chahala wildlife range team. Weapons and cooked rice were seized from the poacher, and an investigation is ongoing.

In a significant breakthrough, forest department personnel have apprehended a poacher from the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, an official confirmed on Sunday.

The apprehension took place during a routine patrol on Saturday. The accused, identified as Mangal Bansingh (43) from Nuniagoda village, was caught with a bow, three arrows, and a bag of cooked rice, officials stated.

Acting on specific intelligence, a team from the Chahala wildlife range patrolled near the Poragoda footpath, leading to the arrest. An investigation is currently underway, with the accused being forwarded to court, the official added.
