The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday commenced a large-scale demolition drive targeting illegal encroachments and structures in northwest Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy colony.
Heavy security has been deployed to oversee the operation.
According to MCD officials, approximately 800 illegal structures have been identified in the area. These structures have misappropriated land originally designated for dairy farming, converting it to residential and commercial uses.
Last week, the civic body issued a public notice giving defaulters a three-day ultimatum to vacate the encroached premises. Following the expiration of this deadline, the MCD has begun enforcement action, culminating in the ongoing demolition drive.
