Union Minister for Jal Shakti C R Paatil on Tuesday unveiled version 2.0 of the 'FloodWatch India' mobile application, marking a significant upgrade aimed at providing comprehensive flood condition updates across the nation.
Developed by the Central Water Commission (CWC), the updated app extends its coverage from the initial 200 monitoring stations to 592, offering users a more extensive and detailed overview of current flood conditions. The first version of the app was launched last year.
The new features also include detailed storage positions for 150 major reservoirs to better predict potential flood risks in downstream areas. By integrating advanced technologies like satellite data analysis, mathematical modelling, and real-time monitoring, 'FloodWatch India' aims to deliver precise and timely flood forecasts.
