Delhi's Joint Winter Action Plan to Combat Air Pollution Unveiled

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Friday unveiled a comprehensive joint winter action plan to tackle the rising air pollution in the national capital.

Set to be formulated through consultations with 33 relevant departments in a meeting on September 5, the plan focuses on 14 critical areas, including vehicular emissions, dust pollution, and stubble burning. The plan was decided during a high-level meeting chaired by Rai, according to an official statement.

The action plan aims to employ a multi-faceted approach, featuring technology upgrades for better monitoring, controlling industrial emissions, and increasing green spaces. Public awareness and participation will be enhanced via the Green War Room and Green Delhi app, Rai emphasized. Additionally, efforts will address pollution in hotspot areas and manage firecracker usage. Coordinating with the central government and neighboring states is crucial for the plan's success, Rai said.
