NDMC Initiates Comprehensive Urban Infrastructure Overhaul

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has approved various infrastructure developments, including the refurbishment of road signages, the management of plastic waste, and street light improvements. Collaboration with the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) has been initiated for technical guidance on road maintenance. An agreement with CRRI and LED street light upgrades are also underway.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has greenlit a series of urban development projects, approving the refurbishment of road signages and the drafting of updated plastic waste management bye-laws. The council agreed to a partnership with the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) for technical guidance on road maintenance.

NDMC vice-chairman Satish Upadhyay mentioned that these and other infrastructure-related proposals were given a nod during the council's recent meeting. Upadhyay emphasized that existing road signages, installed during 2009-2010, are now deemed outdated by the latest Indian Roads Congress norms, requiring an overhaul.

Additionally, NDMC approved a project to upgrade 8,000 street lights to energy-efficient LED fittings. The council also revealed plans for the redevelopment of Shivaji Stadium in collaboration with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Member Kuljeet Singh Chahal noted that 39 roads would be reconstructed at a cost of roughly Rs 4.96 crore.
