Sikkim Chief Minister Meets JICA for Infrastructure Talks
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation to discuss infrastructure projects. The delegation, led by Sunouchi Tatsuhiko, updated the CM on key initiatives and submitted a Preliminary Project Report for road and bridge upgrades. Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Thursday engaged in a pivotal discussion with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) regarding infrastructure projects in the state.
Led by Sunouchi Tatsuhiko, senior director of South Asia Division 1 in Tokyo, the JICA team briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of significant infrastructure initiatives. A Preliminary Project Report (PPR), outlining plans to upgrade four roads and a bridge, was submitted by the state's roads and bridges department to the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Government of India, and awaits final approval.
Both parties deliberated on the potential benefits of these projects and explored JICA's extensive expertise to ensure successful execution. The discussions highlighted the need for environmentally friendly designs that cater to the local population, as stated by the Information & Public Relations department.
