Andhra Pradesh Braces for More Rain as New Low Pressure Area Forms

As Andhra Pradesh recovers from recent floods, the Met Department reports a new low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to bring heavy rainfall to parts of the state until September 9. Thunderstorms, lightning, and winds up to 40 km/h are also forecasted.

As some regions of Andhra Pradesh recover from the recent spell of incessant rains and floods, the Met Department on Thursday announced the formation of a new low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to bring more heavy rainfall across parts of the state until September 9.

The new weather system has formed over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts. According to the Met Department, north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday, while parts of south coastal Andhra Pradesh can expect heavy rain.

In addition to heavy rain, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are forecasted in parts of both north and south coastal Andhra, Yanam, and Rayalaseema, with wind speeds potentially reaching up to 40 km per hour.
