Central Europe is battling the worst floods in at least two decades, impacting countries from Romania to Poland with a death toll of at least 23 people. Governments are mobilizing resources to address the devastation.

In Poland, four southwestern provinces are on high alert, with 14,000 soldiers deployed. Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski announced immediate funds of 2 billion zlotys (€521 million), while additional EU funds could reach 5 billion zlotys for reconstruction and flood defenses.

Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, and Slovakia are also severely affected. Coordinated defense efforts and substantial financial aid are underway to mitigate damage and support affected communities in their recovery.
