Delhi Faces Air Quality Crisis: Struggles and Efforts

The air quality in Delhi has plummeted into the 'poor' category due to adverse weather conditions, raising concerns as Diwali approaches. Environment Minister Gopal Rai warned that pollution levels are forecasted to decline further, necessitating immediate interventions.

Rai explained that the Delhi government is actively working to curb dust pollution with over 2.5 lakh inspections and substantial fines for violations. A 'Green War Room' has been set up, coordinating with 523 teams to enforce anti-dust regulations and proposing stricter measures as winter nears.

Efforts include deploying anti-smog guns and implementing a Winter Action Plan. Additionally, inter-state cooperation is sought to reduce pollution. Rai criticized Uttar Pradesh for pollution in the Yamuna River, as videos showed sections of the river covered in white froth, resembling clouds.
