The India Meteorological Department has reported the formation of a fresh low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, potentially escalating into a cyclonic storm by October 23.
The formation occurred early Monday over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea, following Sunday's upper air cyclonic circulation.
Forecasters anticipate the system will shift west-northwest and progress to a cyclonic stage by October 23, targeting the northwest Bay of Bengal area near the Odisha-West Bengal coasts by October 24 morning.
