Jharkhand's Accelerated Development: Fast-Tracking NABARD Projects

Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari urged officials to expedite NABARD-backed projects in the state, focusing on those nearing completion. For 2024-25, 500 projects worth Rs 2,921.79 crore are planned, with significant allocations for water and infrastructure projects to enhance rural development and irrigation.

Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari has instructed officials to accelerate the progress of projects backed by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). During a recent meeting, Tiwari emphasized the need to prioritize projects that can be completed within deadlines, highlighting concerns over slower projects.

Officials disclosed that a total of 500 initiatives, valued at Rs 2,921.79 crore, have been slated for the 2024-25 financial year, with Rs 1,839.39 crore in loans either already approved or pending. Significant funding, amounting to Rs 976.96 crore, has been cleared for the drinking water and sanitation department to advance 18 projects.

The water resources department received Rs 308 crore for the Palamu lift irrigation project and Rs 461.53 crore for the Pirtand mega lift irrigation venture. Meanwhile, the rural works department is set to enhance connectivity through a Rs 803.94-crore bridge construction plan. The road construction sector reported that 22 out of 34 projects have been completed, with major irrigation projects nearing their completion milestones.
