The Maharashtra government has greenlit a substantial budget plan, approving Rs 100 crore to install 200 LED hoardings on official premises, with an eye towards generating Rs 25-30 crore each year through rental income, confirmed government officials.
The strategy was finalized during a High Authority Committee meeting, chaired by the state's chief secretary. The Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) revealed that outsourcing the advertisement rights to private agencies could potentially result in higher royalty earnings.
The initiative must align with existing government policies, including the e-tendering process for agency selection. The DGIPR will supervise the project, ensuring adherence to financial standards and regulations. The agency in charge will maintain and update the software, implement a robust monitoring system, and manage legal and tax issues. The project's budget will come from the General Administration Department's advertising funds.
