Tragedy Strikes as Balcony Collapse Claims Life in Delhi

A 24-year-old man named Md Kashif died when the balcony of an abandoned building collapsed in southwest Delhi's Mahavir Enclave. Rescuers rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to injuries. The building, owned by Shoaib Akhtar, was old and unmaintained. Authorities are investigating the incident.

A tragedy unfolded in southwest Delhi's Mahavir Enclave on Monday when a 24-year-old man lost his life following the collapse of an abandoned building's balcony. The incident was reported to the Delhi Fire Services at 1:55 pm, prompting an immediate response with the deployment of four fire tenders and rescue teams.

The victim, identified as Md Kashif, was passing by when the structure gave way. Despite being rushed to the DDU Hospital with serious injuries, Kashif died in transit. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), Ankit Singh, noted that the building was both abandoned and particularly old.

Authorities have recognized the building owner as Shoaib Akhtar. The incident has sparked an investigation to ascertain the building's age and the circumstances leading to the fatal collapse.
