Arunachal Pradesh Considers Terminating NH-415 Project Contract

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu signals possible contract termination for the NH-415 project due to delays. Awarded in December 2021, the project's progress remains inadequate, with only 39% completion. Despite recommendations for persuasion, the state now plans re-tendering if the work continues to lag.

Arunachal Pradesh may soon terminate its contract with a construction firm responsible for an 11-km stretch of NH-415, a move hinted at by Chief Minister Pema Khandu. The project, crucial for connectivity, has considerably missed its deadline, raising concerns about its fate.

During a Zero Hour discussion led by BJP legislator Pani Taram, the CM emphasized that the project could not remain unresolved, as its delay undermines other infrastructural achievements in the region. Despite receiving warnings to expedite the work, the contractor's sluggish pace persists.

Initially slated for completion last December, the project still lags behind at 39% completion. With the previous recommendation of persuading the contractor failing to yield results, Khandu now pushes for re-tendering, while maintenance work is planned to accommodate public use.
