The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Shimla has issued a 'yellow' alert for Himachal Pradesh, forecasting heavy rains in Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi districts on Friday. A fresh Western Disturbance expected from March 12 will likely bring thunderstorms and lightning across the Western Himalayas.

The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced mild snowfall, with Keylong receiving 1 cm of snow. The IMD also predicts light to moderate rain or snow in Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and regions like Chamba and Kullu, which may intensify on Thursday and Friday.

Lahaul and Spiti police have advised against unnecessary travel, particularly near the Atal Tunnel, due to snowfall. Tabo recorded a low of minus 3.1°C, while Bilaspur reached highs of 29.7°C. The state has recorded 50.4 mm of rain this season, a 44% excess over the normal.
