NDMC's Ambitious Solar Vision and Civic Initiatives Unveiled

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) met post-Delhi elections to address civic initiatives like achieving 100% solar energy adoption by 2026, initiating night sweeping, and enhancing water connections. Emphasis was placed on solar panel installation, night sweeping expansion, and a strict anti-encroachment drive.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) convened its first meeting post-Delhi Assembly elections, unveiling its ambitious agenda focused on 100% solar energy adoption by 2026.

NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced subsidies matching those of the central government to encourage solar energy usage. Solar panels are slated for installation on all rooftops in the NDMC area, aiming for self-sustainability by 2026. Night sweeping, initially piloted in Khan Market, will extend to five additional locations, with strict penalties for contractual non-compliance.

A proactive approach will address waterlogging through rainwater harvesting and new machinery. MP Bansuri Swaraj swore in new NDMC members, while plans were revealed for 9,000 new water connections, benefiting 47,000 residents, as well as exploring cost-effective electricity procurement.
