Mumbai experienced unseasonal weather, as heavy showers accompanied by thunder and strong winds lashed the city on the second day in a row, affecting daily life and travel. The downpour provided a temporary respite from the intense heat but disrupted local train operations and delayed flights at the Mumbai airport.
In particular, an incident in south Mumbai during a mock civil defense drill saw a green construction sheet blown onto overhead wires between Churchgate and Marine Lines railway stations. This and a fallen tree branch at the Marine Lines station caused the UP and Down slow line suburban train services to be temporarily halted, though fast line services continued to run smoothly.
Flights faced delays as airlines, including IndiGo, issued advisories urging passengers to check flight statuses due to the weather-induced disruptions. Meanwhile, heavy rains affected various city suburbs, notably Dahisar and Borivali, accumulating ankle-deep water, particularly troubling during transit times in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
