European aerospace powerhouses Leonardo, Thales, and Airbus are investigating the potential of forming a space alliance, as confirmed by Leonardo CEO Roberto Cingolani at the Paris Airshow.
Under the code name "Project Bromo," the undertaking aims at establishing a new joint space company. The project is named after an Indonesian volcano, symbolizing explosive potential and ambition.
The strategic move is seen as Europe's effort to strengthen its competitive stance against major players like Elon Musk's Starlink. A decision on the feasibility is expected by the end of July.
