Tragic River Sweep in Chhattisgarh: Four Feared Drowned

Four individuals, including two children, are feared to have drowned after being swept away by a swollen river in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district. Four people, among them two children, were swept away by the strong currents of a swollen river in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district, officials reported on Friday.

The state disaster response force (SDRF) has been actively involved in search and rescue efforts since the incident occurred on Thursday evening.

An official detailed that the victims, identified as Somari (45), Ankita (8), Binawati Nagvanshi (30), and her son Aaryas (3), natives of Dodhagaon village, had been gathering mushrooms near the Maini River when the water level rose swiftly due to heavy rainfall.

A police team rushed to the location, with the SDRF initiating a rescue operation, yet none have been located, and hopes for survival are diminishing, according to the official.
