The Mizo National Front (MNF), Mizoram's primary opposition party, has accused Chief Minister Lalduhoma of secretly planning to shift the state capital from Aizawl to Thenzawl in Serchhip district. The MNF alleges that the Chief Minister is seeking funds from the Centre to execute this plan, which has not been publicly disclosed.

MNF general secretary Zodinpuia claimed that Lalduhoma submitted a petition to the Centre for financial support to relocate the state capital, a move concealed from Mizoram's citizens. Official documents indicate a gradual yet determined effort to relocate the capital. Despite this, the CM has only mentioned plans to develop Thenzawl as a 'peace city' to reduce congestion in Aizawl.

Zodinpuia demanded transparency from Lalduhoma, who has neither disclosed his full plans nor sought public consensus, particularly from Aizawl residents. While the Chief Minister's Office has yet to respond, it has been revealed that Rs 10 crore has been approved for a master plan to develop Thenzawl, a town known for its handloom industry and tourist attractions.
