Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has assured that no slum dwellers will face harassment, reiterating her government's commitment to protecting housing rights. She emphasized the possibility of amending policies and approaching the courts if needed to safeguard the residents' interests.

Gupta announced plans to renovate 50,000 dilapidated houses under the JNNURM scheme and allot them to slum dwellers through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban. She instructed government departments and agencies to abstain from demolishing slum clusters in the city.

In response to criticism over recent demolitions, Gupta disapproved of the opposition's political tactics, emphasizing her government's efforts for permanent settlements.
