Tragedy struck in Jharkhand's Dumka district on Friday as two separate house collapses claimed two lives and injured another. Police report a 10-year-old boy perished and his sister was injured after their home crumbled in Bamankheta village. The incident occurred amidst breakfast preparations.
The boy, identified as Aman Kumar, died instantly, while his 14-year-old sister, Masum Kumari, sustained injuries and was transported to Deoghar for treatment. Prakash Singh, officer-in-charge of Hansdiha police station, shared details of the rescue efforts initiated by local residents.
In a separate incident in Beludih village, 92-year-old Tili Marik lost his life when another house collapsed. The unfortunate events underscore the dangers posed by heavy rain when structures lack resilience, often made of bricks and mud-mortar.
