In response to severe weather events in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed that rescue operations have intensified. The devastation, caused by cloudbursts and landslides, has claimed seven lives and injured several others, with damage reported to infrastructure including railways and highways.
Authorities have swung into action, employing helicopter services to transport the injured to nearby hospitals swiftly. The situation, occurring in Jodh Ghati village and Janglote amid heavy overnight rains, is under continuous surveillance by both civilian and military forces.
Minister Singh communicated with Kathua SSP Shobhit Saxena about the events, stressing the ongoing efforts and expressing condolences to victims' families. Additional assistance is being provided as required, with Deputy Inspector General of Police Shiv Kumar Sharma actively overseeing the operations on site.
