Himachal Pradesh Faces Disastrous Rains: Roads Closed, Villages Isolated

Heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh is causing widespread landslides and road closures, isolating several villages. Despite the extreme weather, no casualties have been reported. Roads throughout the state, including major highways, have been shut down following significant infrastructure damage, while power and water supply disruptions heighten the crisis.

Heavy rains continue to batter parts of Himachal Pradesh, leading to landslides and the closure of 400 roads, including three national highways, as reported on Monday.

No casualties have been reported so far, although major roads like Shimla-Mandi near Tatti-Pani had to be closed due to damage from the swollen Satluj river. Connectivity to about 15 villages was lost following a large landslide on the Aut-Largi-Sainj road in Kullu district.

The state has experienced severe weather, including thunderstorms and strong winds. The local meteorological office has issued a 'yellow' warning for heavy rains. Since the monsoon onset, the state has suffered losses of Rs 2,173 crore, with 136 fatalities and significant infrastructure damage.
