In Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, heavy rains have turned fatal, causing one death and prompting the IMD to issue urgent weather alerts.
Chandrapur is under a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall, with adjacent districts like Gondia and Wardha facing orange alerts. Traffic disruptions are reported, with roads and highways shuttered.
The IMD warns of thunderstorms and advises precaution. The weather is expected to calm post-August 22, following severe flood conditions across several Maharashtra districts.
