Faridabad Evacuates Amid Rising Yamuna Waters

More than 50 people were evacuated from flood-prone areas in Faridabad due to rising Yamuna river levels. The district administration and police are conducting rescue operations, deploying SDRF and NCC teams. Safe shelters have been arranged in government schools and a community center, ensuring essential services for evacuees.

Residents of flood-prone areas in Faridabad, including Shiv Enclave Part 2 and Basantpur, were evacuated to rescue camps on Tuesday as the rising Yamuna river threatened their homes, officials reported.

The increase in water levels is attributed to water release from Delhi's Okhla Barrage, causing significant waterlogging in low-lying neighborhoods.

District officials, led by DC Vikram Singh, have ramped up monitoring efforts and assured the public of continuous rescue operations. Safe shelters with necessary amenities have been established to accommodate those displaced by the floodwaters.
