India's First Human Spaceflight Mission Nears Completion

The Gaganyaan mission, India's first human spaceflight project, is nearing completion with 90% of development work finished. The Gaganyaan mission, India's first human spaceflight project, is approaching a significant milestone with approximately 90% of its development completed, according to ISRO Chairman V Narayanan.

The mission, which involves extensive technological innovations such as human-rating the rocket and developing an advanced crew escape system, is progressing towards launching a crewed mission by 2027. Uncrewed trials, with the first involving the humanoid Vyommitra, are planned before a crewed launch.

Speaking ahead of the Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation Conclave in New Delhi, Narayanan highlighted the achievements of the mission thus far, including a successful parachute system test at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
