Delhi's High-Tech Solution: Amphibious Dredger for Yamuna Cleanup

The Delhi government has acquired an Amphibious Classic 4 Multipurpose Dredger Machine from Finland to enhance its flood management and river cleaning efforts. Costing Rs 8 crore, this advanced technology will address the polluted 22-km segment of the Yamuna river, improving environmental conditions and protecting the city from floods.

The Delhi government has taken a significant step towards improving its flood management and river cleaning initiatives by procuring a cutting-edge dredger from Finland, as announced by Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma.

Dubbed the Amphibious Classic 4 Multipurpose Dredger Machine, it will arrive in India by December and become operational in January. This machine not only underscores technological advancements but also environmental responsibility, combining Finnish engineering with high-efficiency hydraulic systems.

With a procurement cost of Rs 8 crore, the dredger is poised to combat the challenges of the Yamuna and Sahibi rivers, focusing on the heavily polluted Wazirabad to Okhla stretch, thereby ensuring a cleaner and safer future for the region.
