The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has taken a significant step by revamping the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for Delhi-NCR, aiming to address air pollution more proactively.
With the changes announced on November 21, measures previously enacted during higher alert stages will now be implemented sooner. The new framework advances restrictions to earlier signs of deteriorating air quality, effectively triggering actions at a 'Poor' AQI level instead of 'Very Poor.'
The comprehensive strategy includes reducing diesel generator use, boosting public transportation services, and adapting work hours for government offices. This approach, based on scientific insights, involves immediate and consistent enforcement from all implementing bodies in the NCR.
