Tesla Shatters Sales Records in Norway, Outpacing Competitors
Tesla achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing Norway's annual car sales record with a month to spare, thanks to the popular Model Y. This comes amid a European consumer backlash against Elon Musk. Tesla's Norway success strengthens its global presence, despite overall sales declines elsewhere.
Tesla, the electric-vehicle manufacturer, achieved a milestone in Norway by selling more cars than any other automaker in a single year, according to registration data. This triumph comes amid founder Elon Musk's support for controversial political figures, highlighting a rare success in his challenging year.
The company's Model Y spearheaded the sales push, resulting in 6,215 new registrations in November alone. By the end of November, Tesla had sold 28,606 units, breaking the previous record held by Volkswagen in 2016. This surge aligns with Norway's goal of phasing out petrol and diesel vehicles by 2025.
While Tesla's global deliveries face a 7% dip, the company remains buoyant in Norway due to generous EV subsidies. Despite declines in Sweden and Denmark, Norway's support underscores its pivotal role in Tesla's international growth outside North America.
